The stunning visual work of film and TV posters is definitely not a lost art, and this year boasted some of the best work to date.
With new releases from auteurs like Sofia Coppola, Michael Mann, Ari Aster, Wes Anderson, Ridley Scott, Todd Haynes, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Greta Gerwig, David Fincher, and Yorgos Lanthimos, the film selections of 2023 were as robust and unique as ever, with marketing materials to match. Just like the unmistakable visual style of beloved filmmakers, the posters surely matched the respective tones of films ranging from “Asteroid City” to “Priscilla” and “Poor Things.”
Even the “Saltburn” poster went viral thanks to a shirtless Jacob Elordi backlit by an open window, while “The Iron Claw” teased both the physicality and the intensity of the darker brotherhood behind the Von Erich wrestling legacy. Heck, even a fanmade “Barbenheimer” poster all but broke the internet.
For the TV side of things, the diverse visual stylings of the final season of “Succession” to Season 2 of “Yellowjackets” made for an array of posters worthy of hanging as home decoration. Keep scrolling to see the best film and TV posters of the year.
