Reckless (original title: Bloedlink) is the story of a girl's abduction from two thugs in order to get ransom from her rich father. The synopsis may seem to be very generic and contrived but the direction, tempo, and performances make all the difference in this Dutch remake of an English movie, titled The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009). The relationship dynamics between the two abductors and the victim is moving the plot forward and the suspense is ever-present. There are also a lot of plot twists, successfully embedded in the plot, especially one in the middle of the film that changes the viewer's perspective on the story. The performances by all the three actors are convincing and Sarah Chronis is compelling in her portrayal of the victim character, Laura. Furthermore, Reckless is a rather short-length film, the running time is under 90 minutes, and has a really tight-knot plot with no redundant scenes and dialogue. If you love European crime fiction this is definitely a movie to keep in mind.
