TV2 Denmark’s new premium drama backed by TV2 Norge, TV4, MTV Finland and RÚV puts investigative journalism under the spotlight.

The six-part crime series Off the Record (Graverne) reunites some of Denmark’s most experienced creatives: screenwriter Jenny Lund Madsen (Rita, Follow the Money 3) director Jesper W. Nielsen (Borgen, Greyzone, Darkness: Those Who Kill), producers Camilla Hammerich (Borgen 1-3, Ride Upon the Storm) and Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen (DNA).

The story turns on a team of investigative reporters, dealing with personal and professional dilemmas. In the hunt for the truth, they unravel a story of injustice and power abuse.

Mille Dinesen stars as idealist reporter Liv who runs the TV investigative documentary programme Brændpunkt (‘Spotlight’) with her husband Adam (Afshin Firouzi from DNA, The Shift). Together they own the media company Agenda Productions, which produces the lighter daily news programme ‘Morgenland’. The seasoned editorial team, winners of the prestigious Cavling Prize, haven’t uncovered a major story in a while, but a tip leads Liv and her colleagues on the trail of a sensational case that takes them to the highest ranks of the political power.

Søren Malling (The Investigation, Borgen) plays seasoned reporter Hansen, Lila Nobel Mehabil (Follow the Money, Killjoy) is the up-and-coming journalist Alice, Clint Ruben (The Venus Effect, Unruly) is the ambitious intern, and Johanne Milland Pedersen (The Venus Effect) plays the the skilled tech nerd Chris.

“The everyday life of investigative journalists is full of dilemmas, resistance, and sometimes even tension and danger, that are obvious ingredients for an entertaining drama series,” said Jenny Lund Madsen. “With Off the Record, we invite viewers into the engine rooms of investigative journalism, what the search for truth looks like and the personal consequences of dedicating one’s life to the next big revelation.”

Filming is underway on location in Copenhagen and at Nordisk Film’s studios in Valby.

The series produced by Nordisk Film for TV2 has been pre-sold to all other Nordic countries: TV2 Norway, RÚV in Iceland, TV4 in Sweden and MTV in Finland.

It has received support from the Danish Film Institute’s Public Service Fund and Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
